The Captain

Bill Lortz has been fishing on Oneida Lake and the 1000 Islands region for over 20 years. I have been tournament bass fishing for the past 16 years on both the local and regional level. I was introduced to guiding by my uncle who ran a successful charter business on Lake Ontario. Through my years of being a first mate on his boat, I learned and experienced first hand the value of educating fisherman. Our goal at NY NORTHCOUNTRY BASSIN' is for you to not only catch fish but to learn.

My name is Bernie Hoyt (a.k.a.Bernie Bass).
Growing up on the South Shore of Long Island I've always had a passion for fishing. My father introduced me to surfcasting the beaches of Fire Island. At a young age, my eyes were opened to the surfcasting capital of the world, Montauk. My appreciation of the sport led to a longtime member of the Long Island Beach Buggy Association and the Montauk Surfcasters Association. As an NYS Certified Fishing Guide, with over 30 years experience in the surf, I offer a variety of guided trips for all ages and skill levels. Trips are customized based on skill level and experience. Day trips go to Long Island's outer beaches and inlets. Overnight trips are to Cape Cod, Cuttyhunk Island, and other Striper Coast locations. In addition to the guided trips being offered, anglers can also register their group or organization for seminars to sharpen their techniques, strategies, and ability to read the water.

Green River Lake is a haven for the water sport and fishing enthusiast as well as the vacationer that just wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This 8,200 acre lake offers over 33 miles of picture perfect water lying between 250 miles of shoreline. With an average depth of 50 feet and its widest point 1 mile across it is just perfect for crappie fishing.
Green River Lake is situated in Adair and Taylor Counties, Kentucky. The dam, located on Green River Lake, is an 11 mile drive from the cities of Campbellsville and Columbia, and less than 100 miles from Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky.
